Winston Churchill was known for working late into the night with a glass of Scotch in hand. In honor of the man, Davidoff has taken an Ecuadorian Habano Marron Oscuro wrapper with Mexican San Andres Negro binder and hand-rolled them around Viso leaf from the Estelí of Nicaragua, which had been aged in used Scotch barrels. The cigar is in the Churchill format, with a luxurious length of 7” and a ring gauge of 48.
This Oscuro cigar has a deep brown color, and a cold draw will reveal hints of liquor, pepper, and grass. The first half of the cigar is earthy, with oak, cedar, and spice flavors. The retrohale has a subtle sweetness mixed with whiskey undertones. The second half of the cigar presents a sweeter taste, with the liquor notes fading as the cigar burns down to the stub.
This complex yet medium-strength cigar is perfect for those wanting to burn the midnight oil with a fine cigar in one hand and a tumbler of the finest whiskey in the other.
